I am a UX Designer with over ten years of experience in a variety of fields. I graduated with an MFA in Graphic Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art last spring; I am currently a Freelance Graphic Designer in the midst of full-time UX immersive at General Assembly. Before beginning my graduate education, I was running my own small business for over four years— ALUNA paper & design was a design, papermaking, and print studio. I directed all studio operations, designed and managed the website and media, coordinated and oversaw trade shows, and maintained relationships with clients. Before ALUNA, I graduated with a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, then worked at top galleries and artist studios in Chicago, New Orleans, and New York. The dexterity of design, administrative, and communication skills that I gathered during my undergraduate studies, as well as those years of gallery and studio experiences, prepared me for the complex operation of owning a small business, and then the rigorous curriculum at a competitive graduate program and UX immersive.
I see my progressive experience as an indirect path to a career in UX. I understand the perspective of leader, mentor, mentee, collaborator, colleague, and student. I aspire to bring this cumulative background to an empathetic UX design practice. I am currently in Detroit, MI planning to relocate back to New York City in 2023 to be near family and pursue my career as a UX Designer.
